The SGOES Gas Detector measures the concentration of hydrocarbon gases present in a monitored environment. It is configured to report alarms when the gas concentrations in the environment reach the two independently programmable levels, expressed as a percentage of the lower explosive limit (LEL) in air. Its sensor detects and quantifies the presence of hydrocarbons by measuring their absorption of infrared light (IR).
The built-in continuous self-check function will notify you if anything is obstructing the detector’s field of view or if there are circuit integrity problems. The unit comes standard with multiple outputs and you can choose to connect the detector via 4-20mA, RS485 or it can relay to your system for reliable communication.
For those applications where condensation may occur, an internal heater will activate to prevent any damage. And with power consumption less than 4.5W, ESP’s gas detector assures low power costs.
The SGOES allows for a seamless calibration process with on-site non-intrusive calibration via magnetic wand or using a HART hand held device. In fact, it is so reliable it only needs calibration every two years.
Because the device does not depend on the presence of oxygen in a mixture of gases, it can function effectively in environments where other sensor technologies cannot. Moreover, it is not sensitive to gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, carbonic acid, ammonia, or hydrogen sulfide, that may adversely affect other types of sensors. This makes the SGOES an excellent choice for environments where non-hydrocarbon gases are present and where monitoring of hydrocarbons like methane and propane is required.
The detector comes in both stainless steel and aluminum housing.
